7.6 tons of bio-waste recovered in Porto's community composting areas

The Porto City Council, through Porto Ambiente, and LIPOR, within the scope of Cityloops project, have implemented, since August 2021, two community composting areas, located in Amial and Paranhos.

At this moment, 151 families have already made a fundamental contribution to the success of these areas, which have allowed, so far, more than 7.6 tons of bio-waste to be recovered. From the commitment of these participants, it was possible to produce 2.05 tons of compost that was distributed by the adherent families.

One more big step is being taken to promote the local treatment of bio-waste and the circularity of this important material flow.
