ATAHCA presents the book "Acts and Summaries" of the Technical Seminars on the Oaks in Terras de Bouro

The Technical Seminars on Oaks, held and started in 2013, in the Museum of Vilarinho da Furna, in Campo do Gerês, had a partnership that involved the Association of Comparts of the Parish of Campo do Gerês, the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, the City Hall of Terras de Bouro, ATAHCA - Association for the Development of the Highlands of Homem, Cávado e Ave, the Biologists Order, AMO Portugal - Association Mãos à Obra Portugal, QUERCUS in its I and II editions, ZERO in the III and IV editions and LIPOR in the IV and V editions. These meetings have had as their main goal the promotion of a healthy and rich forest for those who live in it and depend on it, at the same time providing important ecosystem services.

Aware of this desideratum, ATAHCA now presents the book "Acts and Summaries" of the Technical Conferences on Oaks, as a way to perpetuate and disseminate this important mission. The presentation took place in the Salão Nobre of Terras de Bouro Municipality, on March 24, and was taken by Professor João Paulo Fidalgo Carvalho, from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, who has worked on several Research and Development projects related to oak and oak forests.

The four editions held between 2013 and 2018 are an example of the importance of partnerships and what can be done to defend and promote the existing values in each territory. In each of the editions there was an aggregating theme that allowed to analyse and discuss the importance of the oak forest in its various aspects and its relationship with descriptors such as water, nature, tourism and its importance in education for the native forest.

As stated by ATAHCA "This presentation aims to emphasized our thanks to all partner institutions in the Technical Seminars on Oaks and all technicians and officials of these institutions, all moderators and speakers for the contribution they gave to recognize the importance and value of these seminars”.
