Santo Ovídeo Bases marked the International Forest Day and World Water Day at LIPOR

The World Tree and Water Days were commemorated by the Staff Command (which includes the Santo Ovídeo (QSO), Serra do Pilar (QSP) and MEP - Messe Exército do Porto bases), with a visit to LIPOR facilities, within the scope of the SIAC project.

Since April 2022, these Bases has embraced sustainability by using the Customised Environmental Intervention Service (SIAC), aimed at educational, social or corporate entities that need specialised technical support in the operationalisation of their Waste Management process. And, in this case, the changes are notorious: by now, 130 mixed waste bins have been replaced by 45 recycling points (for the 3 flows). Now they are just waiting for the next step, the Green Heart Certification!

In this visit, and reinforcing all the efforts towards sustainability, the group had the opportunity to get to know the best of what we do for waste valorisation, visiting the Sorting Plant  and the Composting Plant, deepening their knowledge about the recycling of the different flows.

They also got to know our B Side, visiting our green areas, the Ecological Trail and the Adventure Park with the intention of replication and implementation of good practices, regarding the requalification of their own green areas.

This service, developed in full articulation with municipal services, presents itself as a proximity offer, based on a simple but ambitious and judicious approach, which changes the reality of waste management in institutions, making it more sustainable.
