LIPOR as consultant and specialist in municipal waste management in a Maio Island Project, Cape Verde
LIPOR has just formalized another international participation, assuming the role of specialist in municipal waste management, as a partner of Camões – Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P., in the management of an European Union project that aims to build the Maio Island’s Integrated Solid Waste Collection and Treatment Center (CITRES), in Cape Verde.
The Project's general objective is to contribute to the development of sustainable productive activities on the Maio Island, in Cape Verde, ensuring the protection of water resources and the most fragile ecosystems.
The Mission is to design and implement this System in close collaboration with the Municipality of Maio, the main beneficiaries of the Project, and other entities in Cape Verde, work on developing the skills of local teams to ensure the proper functioning and sustainability of CITRES, as well how to ensure the involvement of key stakeholders. It will also help to develop an environmental education and awareness strategy for the local community.
CITRES will enable effective and sustainable management of municipal solid waste produced on the Island, through the creation of a waste collection, treatment and recovery system. The project will begin with the launch of the tendering procedures for contracting studies, purchasing equipment and designing the project of CITRES.
A team of LIPOR consultants, highly qualified and experienced, was set to support this Mission, which will be developed over a minimum period of 2 years.
This action is financed by the European Union and co-financed and managed by Camões, I.P.
It is worth remembering that in recent years, LIPOR has developed an internationalization strategy based on valuing its Know How, which has more than 40 years of experience. A strategy that has allowed it to win international contracts and consolidate its position with the main multilateral institutions.
