LIPOR on technical mission to Ecuador
As part of the provision of services to support the development of a tool for waste operators in Latin America, in which LIPOR participates as a peer reviewer, LIPOR went to Ecuador with a technical team from the IDB - Inter-American Development Bank to complete another project mission.
On March 17th, 18th and 19th, in Cuenca, the project's consulting team met with a team of waste operators from Latin America, namely representatives from municipalities in Argentina and Ecuador, to begin the testing phase of the tool, which is currently under development. This mission also included a workshop to consolidate the integrated urban waste management tool at the offices of EMAC EP Cuenca Municipal Sewage Company and technical visits to EMAC workshops.
For each of the tool's constituent modules, work focused on the individual description of strategic objectives, definition of KPIs, methodologies for calculating indicators, reflection on the increase for each indicator, among other tasks.
Good Practices, which inspire and underpin all the work, were another of the subjects highlighted.
This tool, although used voluntarily, is expected to contribute to improving efficiency in the recording and reporting of waste information, as support for strategic decision-making and development in Latin America.
The tool aims to improve the performance of municipal solid waste management entities, inducing them to undergo a process of institutional transformation with the aim of achieving the Circular Economy and financial, administrative and operational sustainability.
