LIPOR receives the National Front of Mayors of Brazil

Lipor – Municipalities Association for Sustainable Waste Management of Greater Porto welcomed on June 26 a delegation from the National Front of Mayors of Brazil (FNP), as part of a study visit focused on sustainability and innovation in urban waste management.

The Brazilian delegation, made up of mayors and municipal officials, was hosted by the Lipor team to learn about the organization’s operating model. Lipor serves eight municipalities in the Greater Porto region and is internationally recognized for its efficiency in waste recovery and treatment.

The program included a detailed presentation of Lipor’s strategy and ongoing work, with an emphasis on the circular economy, waste prevention, and environmental targets. This was followed by a guided tour of the facilities, where the Brazilian representatives were able to observe firsthand the recycling circuit and the biowaste composting process—one of the areas in which Lipor is a pioneer.

The FNP highlighted its interest in adopting best practices applicable to the Brazilian context, underlining the importance of international cooperation to advance more sustainable public policies. In turn, Lipor reaffirmed its openness to partnerships that promote knowledge exchange and collaboration in implementing sustainable environmental solutions.

This visit is part of a series of FNP initiatives to modernize waste management in Brazil, drawing inspiration from success stories such as Lipor’s.
