LIPOR in the testing phase of the IDB’S GIRSRating toll

As an external consultant to the IDB, LIPOR Internacional has assumed the role of Project Peer Reviewer and is currently carrying out the final testing of the tool developed – GIRSRating.

This digital tool, which aggregates statistical information, is a management instrument aimed at promoting the continuous improvement of waste management in countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Designed for and intended to be used by waste management operators, it includes five performance assessment areas (Environmental, Financial, Organizational, Social and Technical-Operational), based on a set of parameters translated into KPIs or good practices. Each user/entity that registers data in the tool enters information specific to their operational activities.

The GIRSRating tool enables a rigorous analysis of the organization and its activities, allowing for a qualitative performance assessment based on reference standards.

Based on the results obtained for each entity, GIRSRating also proposes an individual action plan, including a set of recommended measures that encourage continuous improvement across the five performance areas.

GIRSRating also promotes healthy benchmarking among peers by presenting a ranking based on the scores achieved by each entity.

LIPOR International believes that this tool will bring benefits to all solid waste management operators that use it, regardless of their level of maturity or country of origin, supporting the transition from a linear economy to a circular economy and encouraging continuous improvement.

This represents the culmination of more than one year of work supporting a globally recognized institution, the IDB – Inter-American Development Bank.
