It's Christmas at Casa do Corim

#40yearsLIPOR

Casa do Corim, a multifunctional space for the promotion of sustainability, entrepreneurship, environmental protection and the empowerment of citizens for different environmental issues, now managed by LIPOR, under an institutional partnership with the Municipality of Maia, presents a Christmas programme for everyone.

The motto for the presentation of a cultural programme is to combine the Christmas season with the preservation, promotion and valuation of cultural heritage, which combines the Nativity Scene Exhibition by artist Cristóvam Dias, kindly lent by the Matosinhos City Hall, where the presepist art will be the main character, in an effort to preserve a very typical art, such as pottery. Cristóvam Dias' personal collection, donated after his death to the Matosinhos City Hall, perpetuates the tradition of the Nativity scene.

Thus, in partnership with the Matosinhos City Hall, "Nativity" will be open to the public and organized groups every working day between 9.30 a.m. and 4.30 p.m. from December 12th to 23rd, reopening from January 3rd to 27th, 2023.

This exhibition will also be enriched by various activities, among which we highlight the pottery workshops with José Ferreira, a Barcelos Figure Potter, tile painting and a talk on the Nativity in the 18th and 19th centuries by Joel Cleto. XVIII and XIX centuries by Joel Cleto and a Christmas Market, on the 17th December between 2 pm and 6 pm, with the participation of Lets Swap for the exchange of second-hand clothes and toys and a small sale of organic products.
This exhibition will also be enriched by various activities, including pottery workshops with José Ferreira, a Barcelos figurine potter, tile painting, a History, Legends and Narratives of the Nativity Scene talk by Joel Cleto and a Christmas Market, on December 17 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., with the participation of Lets Swap for the exchange of second-hand clothes and toys and a small sale of organic products.

On 14 January, under the theme of the Kings, the Market will be repeated and will feature another very Portuguese tradition: the "Cantar as Janeiras" (Singings of the Holidays).

This first initiative of Casa do Corim will start our purpose of promoting local and regional heritage, encouraging the sharing of knowledge.

We invite the community to participate and to find at Casa do Corim activities that preserve collective memories and that in this season will be closely linked to Christmas and handicrafts, making Casa do Corim a place of culture and popular art.

Stay tuned for the programme! And take note: registration is compulsory for organised groups, as well as participation in workshops on weekdays.
