Climate Change

We know, reduce, mobilize and cooperate.
Today, there is unequivocal scientific evidence that the climate is changing. Reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reaffirm this evidence and identify the anthropogenic emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) as the primary cause of global warming since 1750. Even if we reduce GHG emissions now, Climate Change and its effects will carry on for decades.

The waste sector is central to the global climate debate. It was in this context of responsibility that we assumed, already in 2006, in the dual condition of GHG emitter and mitigation instrument, the monitoring and management of GHG emissions as a fundamental instrument for:
In the face of the challenges of the next decade and LIPOR's strategic objective of diversifying activities and businesses,we have prepared an evolution framework for 2021-2030. This evolution will be based on 4 designs:
- in operational terms: reinforce information gains (in terms of specific indicators of its activity);
- in terms of market positioning: to have a proactive and innovative approach to a new level of corporate responsibility.

- Less Waste, betting on efficient resource management, favoring a circular business model;
- Less Carbon, enhancing the binomial Carbon - Energy, converging towards decarbonisation and the energy transition;
- More Climate, boosting our commitment to adapting to climate change;
- More Biodiversity, increasing the biodiversity promotion in our activity context.
hese are the new Strategy LIPOR 4 M - menos Resíduos, menos Carbono, mais Clima, mais Biodiversidade (less Waste, less Carbon, more Climate, more Biodiversity). With this Strategy we defined a new goal and we intend to achieve a 30% reduction in GHG emissions in the year 2030.
Emissions Offsetting
LIPOR fleet is CARBONOZERO

The offsetting of 276,7 t carbon credits (measured in tCO2e) will be translated into credits from a national forest area, yet to be determined, monitored by Ponto Verde Serviços.
Thus, LIPOR's Own Fleet emissions neutralized in 2019 correspond to a total of 276,7 tCO2e.
